Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Is soil-based better than soil-less (e.g. hydroponic) in our context?

To us, both types have their value and should continue to be pursued up here. For instance, leafy greens and other crops such as tomato, pepper and cucumbers can be grown efficiently year-round up here using hydroponic systems, providing for unbeatable quality, freshness, nutrients and low carbon footprint during our long winters.

At YukonGrow, we're all about creating and supporting healthy, resilient and productive ecosystems. Soils are ecosystems that can be considered an asset, as they will increase in value if cared for properly; over and above producing healthy food, this can sequester carbon from the atmosphere and contribute to regulation of the climate. We're also quite techy and get excited about optimizing grow systems in general, including hydroponics.
